VIC MEYERS BRINGS
ORCHESTRA HERE FOR
DANCE FRIDAY NIGHT.
A Seattle man who can attend ft
banquet garbed In a sheet, leading a
goat, and munching carrots noisily
and db so nonchalantly as If light
ing a certain brand of cigarettes, will
arrive In Medford tomorrow. And
Vlv Meyers, the "personality man" of
Washington, will possess the same
Jaunty air which attracted national
attention a few weeka ago.
His purpose, however, will not be
for the mayoralty vote of Seattle, but
to direct his 12-pteee Columbia re
cording orchestra which will play for
a dance at the Oriental Gardens Fri
day evening Under the sponsorship
of Dom Provost. Reports Indicate
that .his ability to direct the musl
si clans even surpasses that of im
pernonntlng the Mahatma M. K.
Gandhi.
Although Vic, a native Oregonlan,
lost the race for mayor, his clown-
lng throughout the campaign kept
the other nfue candidates wondering
how far the buffoonery would Influ
ence Seattle's voting public.
The orchestra leader was busy day
and night, and his well-known dance
band could acaroely keep up with
the demands for appearancei.
Dance - fans 'throughout southern
Oregon are plannlnf to attend the
premiere event here tomorrow even
ing, scheduled on Meyer tour.
His fame spread throughout the
nation following hts nomination as
mayor early this year. He went on
record as favoring cracked ice for
prowl cars, bands to meet all trains,
and 4 per cent beer. To emphasise
vie 4 per cent Idea, Meyers rode
through Beetle streets atop a brew
ery wagon drawn y four shaggy
horses. The demonstration came to
a dramatic close when one wheel fell
off the car, causing beer kegs to roll
In every direction.
Vlo Meyers and his men will also
appear on the Holly stage tomorrow .
evening at 8 o'clock.
