Minnie May Belle Boardman, died
at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Addaline W.httlock, 837 Austin street,
early Thursday morning from Inju
ries received by a fall down the base
ment steps at the home of a neigh
bor. Mrs. Boardman was born at
Springfield, Mo.. March 13, 1878.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Adair, moved to Montana when she
was 16 years of age. Minnie M. Adair
was married to Jesse T. Boardman
In 1803 at Hamilton, Mont., and to
this union were born three children,
Earl of McCloud, Cal.: Frank E., Pros,
pectl Ore.; Mrs. Addaline Whit lock.
Medford, and two grandchildren. Le
land Whitlock and Harvey Boardman.
She was a member of Reames chap,
ter. Order of Eastern Star, and Olive
Rebeka.h lodge of Medford, and the
South Methodist church and the Wo
man's Relief Corps. She was a fine
Christian character and mother.
Under adverse circumstances she
reared her family to maturity.
Funeral services will be held at
the Perl Funeral Home Saturday at
3:30 p. m., A. J. Hanby officiating.
Interment In Medford cemetery.

PORTLAND, Ore.. March 31 (AP)
Thomas F. Croxton. 82. whose
father. Thomas Croxton. is credited
with having named the town of
Grants Pa.ui, was burled here today.
He died Monday at his home here.
Croxton, member of a pioneer Ore
gon family, was born in Illinois in
1850. His parents and relatives cross
ed the plains two years later. Ravaged
by Indians the tratn abandoned the
proposed California trip to take the
Oregon Trail, short of horses and
feed.
The elder Croxton wintered with his
family In Salem In 1853 and later
established In the Grants Pass vicin
ity. He built a stage depot In 1866 or
1887, and established a post office
which he named Grants Pass after
consulting with John Wheeler, J. P.
Tuffs and Ben Mench. He also gave
the ground for the Grants Pass ceme
tery and for a school there.
