class of the First Christian church
of Medford will conduct a special
program In the Rlslto theater, be
ginning at 9:30 aharp and continu
ing for one hour to which all men,
young and old, of Medford and the
surrounding country, and especially
men who are not In the habit 01
attending Sunday school, anywhere
are cordially Invited and urged to
be presont.
The meeting will be snappy and
will consist of pipe organ and vocal
solos, music by a men's double quar.

Superintendent . C. Sollnsky, ac
companied by Mrs. Sollnsky and their
daughter Jane, left this morning by
auto for San Francisco, whore he will
apend a week at the field headquar
ters of the national parks system,
while Mrs, Sollnsky and Jans will
visit relatives for several days and
return home next Monday.
The superintendent, howevtr, will
not be home probably for a month,
as he will leave San Francisco for
Hot Springs, Ark., to attend the con
ference of superintendent of nation
al parks there April 3 to 8, and then
go on from there to Washington, D.
C, for a conference on Crater Lake
national park' matters, with Horace
Albright, director of the national
parks system.
An enthusiastic campaign to pro
mote better attendance at luncheons
of the Lions club was started today
at the session at the Hotel Holland,
when each Lion present was appoint
ed to act as a committee of one to
bring in one of the absent brothers
at the next meeting olthe club.
Several program suggestions to In
crease Interest in the organization
which has. Lion Pennington assured
his fellow members, "grand prospects
for the future," were presented. The
next meeting of the club will be
"wow," from program and attend
ance standpoints, It was predicted at
the end of today's session.
CHANGE MEET NIGHT
Legion troop No. 7 at their last
weekly meeting at the armory, and
with K. D. Ross, their new master
in charge, agreed that they would
hold their meetings on Tuesday night
hereafter, aa Wednesday night was
too busy a night around the ar
mory and the noise Interfered with
their scout work, and also agreed
that all boys who were there for
the next meeting and who had been
registered with troop seven In 1931
would be re-registered at the troop
expense, and all who are absent
would be dropped from the rolls
and be required to pay their regu
lar fee, If they wished to be regis
tered again.
RAIN FALLS HERE;
SNOW AT GRATER PARK

Senator Frederick Stelwer today
advised the county court tn a tele'
gram that he waa taking steps
toward securing federal employment
aid for this state, and that there
waa nothing definite to report.
Senator Stelwer Is supporting the
federal emergency road aid bill, for
an appropriation of $125,000,000. and
It Is expected to come to a vote in
congress ere the end of the week,
Under the appropriation Or ego
would be allotted more than $3,000,
000 for federal road work.
Senator Stelwer assured the county
court he appreciated the seriousness
of the situation and was doing all
he could to secure relief.
According to County Engineer Paul
Rynnlng, 91 men are now employed
on county relief work, and It
hoped to continue the work for an
other month or six weeks. An ef
fort U being made by the counties
of the state, to have the highway
commission continue financial assist
ance in the work. ,It is expected
that by June 1. employment will be
available for some of the Jobless on
federal road work.
Twenty-two hundred men are reg
istercd as unemployed In this county,

possessed of modest means and how
many are In need.
YOUTHS IN JAIL
AS CAR THIEVES
Donald. Chappell and Leslie John
aon, each 2i years old. are held in
the county jail, following their
rest last night by the state police
for possession of a stolen auto, and
endeavoring to defraud a service sta
tion keeper. They are held for
Klamath Falls authorities.
The youths are alleged to have
atolen a Ford coupe yesterday be
longing to Q. W. Mattern of Klamath
Falls and last night to have secured
olght gallons of gasoline at the Har
kins Service station at Ashland and
to have fled. They were pursued
by state police who captured them
after a wild drive north on the Pa
clflo Highway.

Wranglers To Sing
Local Composition
Permission to broadcast 'The Beau
tiful Rogue River Valley," song by
three local composers, has been
granted "The Wranglers," It waa an
nounced here today, and the popu
lar new melody will soon be heard on
the Wranglers' hour.
A wire was received from the sing
ers a few days ago asking permission
to feature the number, composed by
Fred Alton Halght, James GUI and
La Vern C- Newman, who are organ
ising the Fred Alton Halght Music
Publishing ccompany. The song was
recently Introduced to southern Ore- i
gon by George Olsen, locsl soloist.

A group of Mnsona from the Med
ford lodge will motor to Kerby Sat
urday evening, where they will at
tend the Masonic lodge session, and
deliver the trowel to the lodgo. The
trowel, which Is being taken from
one order to the other, is a copy
of the Implement used by George
Washington when laying the corner-
atone of the national capltol.
Included In the delegation will be
Worshipful Master Stewart, Aubrey
Norrla, Junior warden, and M. Purdtn,
(will or warden. Dion Fabrlck will
give the address. '
Accompanying the trowel Is a book,
which was received in Medford from
the Central Point lodge. Inscription
of the local order's history waa made
by Dr. Jud D. Klckert.

RE-TRIAL MOTION
Roy H. Parr, game warden, through
his attorney, Allison Moulton, was
today granted until next Saturday
to file counter-affidavits and resist
the motion of the Pacific Record
Herald, and Its editor. Earl H. Fehl
to eecure a new trial. Parr was re-
cently awarded a $18,000 libel verdict
against the paper and lta editor.
Attorney Moulton seU forth that

Pacific Record-Herald and Editor
Pehl. attacking the plaintiff, his
attorney and members of the Jury
and It la necessary to file counter
affidavit to "establish the truth."

where It lay on the floor while At
