Woolworth company today declared
an extra dividend of 83 a share in
addition to the regular quarterly
disbursement of 80 cent. The extra
dividend la payable November IB to
stock of record Nov. 1, and the regu
lar Dec. 1 to stock of record Nov. 1.
This was a welcome bnak for Wall
Street In the long chain of dividend
reduction. It had been expected,
however. The surplus of the parent
company waa considerably Increased
a few months ago by the recapitali
zation and public sale of securities of
the British subsidiary.- It had been
expected that th company would
take some action toward distributing
part of thl lurplu to th stock-

black toy terrier, four-months old
bob-tailed pup of the AI Clement

trustingly followed an older dog
