There la a good supply of quality
cabbage on the "street." at fairly
steady prices. Best atuff la offered
the trade at 2 cents a pound.
' Cooler weather reduced the offer
ings of tomatoes considerably com
pared with production of last week.
Tthe market advanced a tiickel Wed
nesday. Quotations to the trade are
85-45 cents.

NEW YORK, Sept. 8. (AP) The
stock market was bolstered by ahort
covering today, and offered better re
sistance to selling, although several
prominent Issues again recorded new
lows for the bear market.
T.'ae market rallied a little in the
morning, sagged during the middle
of the day when General Motors was
heavily sold, but made lingular re
covery In the final dealings. The
market closed barely steady.

Income or Intangibles taxes, or both,
will soon be engaged In making out
their reports on such, aa the second
half la due the state October 1st, ac
cording to announcement made by
that former well-known Medford resi
dent, John H. Carkln of Salem, secre
tary of the state tax commission.
The commission la sending out
13,000 letter to persons throughout
the state who have not filed any re
turns this year. Approximately 7000
Oregon taxpayers have paid the first
half-years taxes, and are expected to
remit the remainder by Oct. 1. More
than 38.000 persona paid the entire
tax when It became due early In the
summer.
