done by this organization, Its alms
and future plnns.

- the Crescent City harbor plan, the
' accomplishment, of which polots to
ward a bright outlook for the Rogue
River valley. .

ture of Medford and vicinity depend
ed on tha development of certain
lines of Industry suitable to this lo
cation. Southern Oregon has the
climate, location and Industries all
' necessary for a remarkable growth,
(but the proper marketing facilities
are vet to be developed. .

timism as that given by Mr. Gates.

tho window with her lamp. The key
turned In the lock, the door opened.
Umberto lay on the floor, Ills knife
beside him. There 'was a gash on
Gabioau'a check. Couchlta ran to
him moaultig, staunching the wound

Road As Outlet
A delegation of residents of th
Emigrant croefc district appeared be
fore the county court 1,ils morning,
and Mked that a road" near 'that
stream, serving eight families, be
constructed ero winter comes, so they
will have an outlet and be enabled
to send their children to Ashland
schccls without moving into Ashland.
Read Supervisor William Perry ac
companied the deleft ion.
It was brought out at the meeting
that all are in favor of the road
save Fermin Znno, a farmer wfto to
date has refused to grant a right
of way across his land. The court
moved 1o order the road built by
resolution.
County Engineer Paul Rynning told
the court, that he had Interviewed
Zano relative to a right of way and
that the first price suggested by him
was $2500, but this had been reduced
to $50. The court held t.'iat if any
thing was paid It should noj. be more
than $26 "If that much."
The road has been under consid
eration for several months, delayed
by negotiations with Zano.
Tho delegation was assured that
action would be taken towards con
struction of the road at an early
date.
