SOMERVILLE BESTS
YATES AGAIN FOR
TITLE
MONTREAL. ' 6ue., AUgi 15 (AP)
O. Ross (Sandy) SomerVllle,' dour
arid 'Bllcnl player from London; Ont.,
beat back the challenge of Arthur
(Ducky) Yates of Roohester, N. Y.,
to win 'the Canadian amateur golf
championship today for the second
year in succession, -i
Playing machine-like golf most 'of
the wayi Somervllle ran up a touf
hole lead In the first 18-hole round
and then had little trouble holdlilg
on to a commanding margin to win
natch and title by a 3 and 2 count.
There was little dramatlo about
Somervllle's game ae he clicked Oft
pars with monotonous regularity
and the gallery of 1.800 got most of
Its- thrills from a lost ditch rally
Yates staged, after ho had gone tour
down at the short 30th hole.
The smiling ochcater giant out
this margin to three, holes at ie
31st where Bomervtlle pitched In a
trap and took sis, and reduced the
Cnnadlau's edge another' hole at the
32nd, 170-yard three shotter, when
he recovered sensationally from a
bunker and sank a four-foot putt for
hla par three. -
But that wA Yates' last gesture,
for Somervllle pulled himself, to'
gether sharply. He halved the 33nt
hole In fours. At the 308-yard 34th
Somervllle sliced his drive Into the
rough behind a bunker, but recov
ered with his second to land 12 feet
from the pin. Yates' second found
a trap and- his third landed only
few Inches closer than Somervllle's
second... When the Rochester player
missed hii first putt' he picked up
both balls and extended his hand in
congratulation Jo the champion. ' .

Very Disquieting.
' BELFAST, Northern Ireland, Aug.
16 (AP) Police reinforcements were
ruahed tonight, to Armagh, northern
Ireland, after a day of battling be
tween Orangemen and delegates to
the assembly of the Ancient Order
of Hibernians. . , ,
The reinforcements were dispatch
ed after leaders on both sides had
vainly appealed to their followers to
keep the peace.
Irish nationalists. In street dem
onstrations . shouted "Up, Dublin I"
and "Up, Do Valero I" and the Or
angemen retaliated by singing
Derry's Walls."
. Many windows were shattered and
police feared that they might obtain
arms.
The day's troubles started with
the wrecking of a locomotive near
Rich Hill, county Armagh, by a group
of - about f 20 men' who shot one
warning bullet In the direction of
Henry Bell, engineer, and told him
he would get the next one If he
didn't obey them, then they tipped
up a section of the track and, de
taching the locomotive from Its
train, forced Dell to start it toward
tho gap. 1 ' '
' This was Interpreted as a reprisal
measure ngalnst tho "Irish republi
can army-" ' which prevented Orange-
mob from holding a meeting at
pootchlll ' In' county ' Cavon, on the
southern side' of the Free Stager
