OPEN COURTSTREET :
PLEA BEFORE COURT
A petition requesting that the
county court order the opening ol
Court street from North Central ave
nue to the Pacific highway, thus af
fording a direct route to tho heart of
the business district, was filed with
the county court late yesterday.' It
la signed toy practically all of the
property owners of the area affected.
The matter has 'been hanging fire
for the past year, and the main diffi
culty has been to get the state high
way commission, the Owen-Oregon
Lumber company: and the county
cpurt to act in unison.
One of the problems is the cross
ing of an irrigation ditch and an
other is widening of the highway to
'minimize danger of accidents at a
Junction.

FOR OREGON TAGS
T
The last two days there has been a
great demand for Oregon auto
license plates by autoists heretofore
flitting over the highways and by-v-ays,
flaunting California and Wash
ington tags, the shenlf's office re
ports. The change ol heart is credit
ed to the announcement of the newly
created state police that ono of their
Initial activities would be checking
up cn foreign licenses.
Five Willamette valley and Portland

plates called yesterday and mnde ap
plication for home state plates. One
of the "Washington residents" lived
at Roseburg.
A number of Jackson county Call
fcrulans also squared things with the
secretary of state.
A check-up will be made by the
state police In tho rural areas as
well as tho cities, and they will In
spent the situation in the Prospect
and Crater lnke districts, where nutos
are secluded, it ts said, in the tall
timber while tho owner works. There

In the far corners of the county that
had ho' licenses last year or this.
Owners will be requested to purchase
for the present year, also for the one

when -.'first-choice., costs no more?
When you buy tires be sure you get the tire that
will give you most for your money.
Be sure you get the tire so far ahead in quality
and value that it is outstandingly the first-choice
tire of the world.
That tire is the Goodyear Tire. For 16 years it
has been true that "More people ride on Goodyear
Tires than on any other kind!"
Recently a great and unbiased public institution
completed a nation-wide survey, asking American ;,
car 'owners "What tire is best?" 1 '
The vote, representing every section and unin
fluenced in any way, shows a preference for
Goodyear Tires nearly 2 times that for the
second tire, and five times the average preference
for all other makes. ,
No thinking man will allow mere sales talk to
weigh against public testimony like that.
Just keep firmly in mind that Goodyears enjoy
leadership because they give the user something
extra, and that the user gets that something
extra today at no premium in price.
When the. high-pressure dealer seeks to sell you
I'd second-choice 'tjre against your better judgment,
protect yourself by asking him this simple
question : .. ? ) .,.;
"Why should I buy a second-choice tire, when
first-choice . costs no more?" ,
