tained Injuries about & week ago In
a dive Into the pool at Twin Plunges,
Ashland, underwent a minor opera
tion this morning at the Sacred Heart
hospital, necessitated by complica
tions resulting from the accident.
An abscess was removed from her
spine, which was Injured in the fall.
She Is reported to be getting along
nicely this afternoon.

IN LITTLEJANOE
In the Augusv number of the Na
tional Geographic Magazine appears
an article by Amos Burg, former stu
dent ol the University of Oregon,
which relates his trip by canoe on an
1800 -mile voyage to the Arctic ocean.
The article will Interest many local
people for Mr. Burg, who Is known
to many of the university set. was
accompanied by Dr. George Rebec,
who Is till better known In Med
ford. Dr. Rebec formerly lived in the
Rogue River valley, whero he has
many friends. The trip made by the
two men started at Clearwater river
In northern Alberta and took them
over wind-swept lakes, down treach
erous rapids of the Slave, through
the Arctic circle, across the snowy
passes of the northern Rockies, and
through the territories of seven semi
clvllized Indian nations.
The article is entitled "On Macken
zie's Trail to the Polar Sea.' 'and fills
many pages of the National Geo
graphic. It has been given first place
In the August Issue of the magazine
and Is lllustiated with many photo
