JOHN PERL SHOWS
One of the recent delights of John
A. Perl is the companionship of his
10-yoar-old grandson, Jock Six, who
with hlr, mother, Mrs, Chas. Six is
hero from Los Augeloa spending tho
summer .with her parents, and
peclally such companionship in
fishing boat.
And Jack rates the greatest person
ages in tho world as, first his mother,
socond his grandfather, third his
grandmother nltho often lu doubt
as to which grand parent should pre
cede fourth his uncle Frank, and
then In the following order: Lind
burgh, Proa Went Hoover and some
other Uko commoners.
Grandpa Porl, Mrs, Six and Jack
havo been spending the past 10 days
at the Perl summer home on the
shores of Klamath Lake at Rocky
Point and have been expected homo
dally for several days but cannot
bear to leave because tho fishing has
been so good. .
, Laat Tuesday Jack caught his first
fish, a magnificent 8-pouud rainbow
i rout, which put up such a good right
that the plucky youth after hook
ing and playing him towards the boat
for a long time finally gave up just
near tho finish and exclaimed:
"Qrandpa, you take him. I Just can't
hold the pole and line any longer!"
Then orunapop with with his usual
piscatorial skill, acquired In clubbing
oat fish-to death .back In Ohio in
hin younger dayq, pulled the f'sh In,
and complimented Jack on his clev
erness and maneuvering In landing
such a flue one. You know tlve usual
way of doting grandfathers.
A day or so later Jack landed a
nice fighting six-pounder all by him
self, since which time he has been
giving grandpa pointers on how to
catch fish big ones. At that. John
has a lot to learn yet in this regard.

TRIBUNE,! MEDFORD,
' "Some Little Bug W1U Get You
Someday," is the song Mr. and Mrs.
Prank (Pug) Isaacs . of Mistletoe
street are singing this ' week, for
some little bug is getting their radio.
Day by day he bores away-, form
ing a new dot in the expensive cab
inet, whlc,i houses the radio, and all
the experts in town have tailed to
find him.
He can be heard grinding on each
evening and in the morning another
hole appears, threatening to give the
radio a fashionable polka dot Jacket.
The first holo Mrs. Isaacs discov
ered, she accused Prank of driving
a nail Into the woodwork by way ot
expressing his dislike for a certain
program. Mr. Isaacs refuted the
charges.
Mrs. Isaacs was hardly convinced
of his Innocence when a second holo
appeared in the cabinet and then a
very small pile of sawdust was not
Iced on the floor. Careful Inspec
tion detected a grinding noise, which
Is continuing.
The specialists from the Palmer
Music store were called and the
ra'Uo was taken apart but nothing
was found. The lnsides were rein
stated and the little bug began his
work again. He gnawed and gnawed,
and another hole appeared in t.'.e
side of the cabinet.
' The aid of drug stores was solicited
and a little pink pill was inserted
in one hole, but the little bug didn't
take his pill, ana he went right on
with his gnawing.
Frank is now asking the advice
of the forest service In the campaign
to destroy the bug, which authori
ties Identify as a wood beetle. How
iie got Into the cabinet no ono knows
but Frank thinks he is a relative
of. the famous bullfrog, who sur
vived for many years In the corner
stone, and has stayed with the wood
all through the manufacturing pro
cesses and tthe three years the radio
has been located In the Isaacs' home,

At the Churches
Federated Churches
"Will- Israel Be Restored?" would
be a very fitting subject for the
discussion of the chosen people In
the evening sermon tonight at the
Central Point church In the series
ol sermons on "Why God Is Con
cerned. With the Governments of- the
World," It la fitting to give Israel
proper consideration. National' ques
tions can no more be settled with
out faking the Jew Into proper con
sideration than can a moral ques
tion be solved with due considera
tion of Jesus Christ.
You are Invited to bear these ser
mons. Services begin at eight o'clock
and the sermon Is closed at nine
o'clock. Bring your children, and
your friends.

There 13 something worth thinking
about. .. j -
One good feature of the European.
American and other troubles Is this:
You at least know what they are!
We know that the squandering or
money and blood In war. foolish ex
travagance and wastefulness that fol
lowed It are responsible for our pres
ent condition. . -
When you know what is the matter
with you, a cure Is not .so difficult.
A colored person, on the scaffold,
asked If he wished to say any last
words, remarked: "Yes. I want to say
that 1 hope this will be a lesson to
me the rest ol my life."
Let's hope that war will be a lesson
to the nations tor the rest of their
lives, and a lesson to the United
States to attend to Its own business,
not Inviting trouble by, meddling
with the business of others. :
Off the California coast, near San
Diego, a United States destroyer with
no man on ooaxu, uwucu,o .
high speed, the maneuvers including!
A radio-robot at the wheel of the
manless destroyer Stoddert, ' turned
right or left as ordered. Increased
the destroyer's speed to ton,, fifteen,
twenty-six knots, blew the whistle,
blinked the powerful searchlights.
And in connection with the possible
future war, remember that, the radio
robot with no crew was doing the
work of sixty men. A thousand or
ten thousand ships might be con
trolled on the water, under the
water or In the air, without risking
human life. .'
Science and money combined make
a powerful combination. This world
will be on the way to, civilization
when governments take' as - much
trouble about the happiness of the
working masses as they do about
new ways of destroying life.
