Seeking a friendly resting place
and relief for his aching foot, a
homing pigeon came to earth yes
terday at Owen Oregon lumber camp
No. 2 near Butte Palls after flying
from Humptullps, Wn., where he
took wing July '18.
He limped across the sofi brown
earth, breathed the pine scented
air. unfolded his blue-gray wings
and turned to George Carper, camp
employe. lor help.
Mr. Carper, who has a brooa
of pigeons or his own, picked up
the bird and found tied, too tigUly,
to his right leg this message: "Pig
eon was captured N. T. Loom is
farm, Humptultus, Wn.. June Ha,
held until July IB, advertised "i
paner. no answer."
On his oilier teg a band curried
the following Inscription, "Au

The leg to which the first mes
suge had been tied wus swollen
and sore, making flying dliticuit
for the pigeon. He seemed to sense
t he presence of a dove cote a nd
understanding person, when he
landed at the camp and limped
across to the 1 Carper cabin. The
rubber band was removed from the
leg but the bird still limps. Mr.
Carper will hold him unill some
one claims' him and if no one does,

The bird is bluish-gray in color
and has an almost purple breast
with flecks of white around his eyes
