News of the progress of Prof.
Karl Moldrenv former violin in
structor of this city, is found
In the August issue of the Ladies'
Homo Journal In an article which
depicts thn doings of the leading
folk in Hollywood today.
The title of the article, writ
ten by Mayme Ober Peak is
"Hollywood Happenings." It de
votes several paragraphs to Pro
fessor Moldrom and his Hollywood-Baby
orchestra, of which
Medford has already heard much.
The paragraphs read:
You hear the Hollywood Baby
orchestra; you see it, but still
you can't -believe it Babies .from
two to six years old reading
orchestral music; trained music
ians, who run tho whole show
themselves, with Just the rijht
note of kid comedy Injected by
six-year old master of ceremon
ies, Jerry Mills.
Prof. .Karl Moldrom, who train
ed the babies of this twenty
seven piece orchestra, declares
that a child as young as ono
year and ten months, with suf
ficient intelligence to pick up-ii
spoon and direct it to its mouth.
Is brainy enough to grasp the
rudiments of music! . He hoots
at the idea that children are
born with musical talent.. Furthr
ermore declares, "The less a
child knows, the more teach
able." Start , training baby minds
along musical lines heforo di
verted In different channels and
they know nothing else," ho says.
"The younger they are, tho more
receptive. It Is nil a matter
of repetition. I tench them how
to think, and train them how
to hear. How quickly they ad
vance depends entirely upon the
cooporatlon of the mother. 1
tench tho mothers how to sup
ervise their practice.".
Since the child-labor laws pro
hibit the explolntation of children
under eight years old, tho Holly
wood baby orchestra is not a
money-maker, except for charity.
