WEATHER KEY T0
MARKET ON EGGS;
E
PORTLAND, July 6. ,P Tho
weather will play an Important
part in the e;jg market hero this
week. There was a jjood demand
prior to the holiday that had
much to do with supporting the
two-cent rise for last week. If de
mand slackens without some out
stldo agency, such as the weather,
helping this market, it may be
difficult to maintain the advance.
The outlook as the week opens i
is for considerably higher tempera,
tares. This will automatically cut
down the volume of egs coming
into the market especially iij the
extra division. Something Hko this
may bo needed to hold the mar
ket. Raspberry prices were shaded
15 cents a crate in wholesale trado
circles here today. The new prico
i $ t.10 to the trade.
Green beans were going to the
trade .Mclay at 8 cents a pound, j
compared with 6 cents at the .closoj
of last week,
Heavier production of field
grown cucumbers -brought sharp
reductions In all cucumbers.
. Hot huuje varieties were quoted
to tho trado at $1.00-1.16 and
field Krown were down to 85
cents. ,
Corn receipts from Tho Dalles
.showed a sharp pick-up over the
weok-ynd, Some of the stuff com-
iug In now is tho yellow variety,
but a :largo part of it is white.
Corn is going to tho trado at &0.
cents a dozen ears.
Local head lettuce was reduced
to $1.10 for the three dozen dry
pack here Monday. Four and
five dozen locals were quoted at
$2.75 to the trade. .
There was a great deal of snap
and strength to the watermelon
market. Only n few cars were
available, and buyers wero on
hand for these. The price was a
shade higher ut 2V4-2M, cents a
nound. According , to talk in the
trade, another advance will bo
worked before Tuesday night
