District Cage Championship Rules Adopted by Committee
RURAL WINNERS
OF 2 COUNTIES
1ST PLAYOFF
Victor Will Challenge Lead
ing Team of First Class
Schools for Southern Area
Crown.
A plan for deciding tlin district
championship In basketball has
been announced by the district
committee consisting of H. I.. Iliihl
man, of Grants Pass; Principal K.
U. Evans of Chlloquln, and II. P.
Jewelt, chairman, of Central Point.
Hrlefly the plan provides for the
selection of the champion team
among the smaller schools of
Klamath and Jackson county, this
winner to play the first-class team
that wins.
A further provision Is that this
name must be played the week
preceding the Mate tournament,
and Is to be played only on chal
lenge., from the smaller Bchnnl.
Without challenge the larger school
automatically becomes district
champion.
Another Important regulation
provides for the playing of so
called non-conference games, that
Is games between the small schools
and the large schools played during
the regular season prior to the
championship game. These non
conierence games are not to be
counted In any wuy against the
teams participating.
Under this ruling Medford's game
with Chllonuin will be a non-conference
game and will not affect
the standing of either team. These
plans for deciding the champion
ship were Informally approved by
the coaches of the first-class
schools In a recent meeting.
Details of the plan for an "A
conference" consisting of Modford,
Ashland, Klamath Kails and Grants
pass, ann a "H-conference" con
sisting of all high schools in sec
ond and third class districts.
Owing to the lurge number of
schools In the latter conference It
was divided Into the Jackson coun
ty division and the Klamath county
division.
Winners of those two divisions
are to pluy off at least two weoks
preceding the state tournament.
Present Indications are that Phoe
nix will represent Jackson county
ana uniioquln will play for Klam
ath county. Oilier strong contend
ers In the O-conference In Jackson
county ure Sums Vulley and the
St. Mary's team.
The league-leading Gates bowl
Ing nulnt took two games from the
Nats In thoir match on the Xatn-
torlum alleys luet nlKht, with Walt
Anile setting a hot pace as lead-
