ON MERITS OF
PROPOSED BILL
The Med ford inanter and Jour
neyinen barbers are divided in
opinion uh to the merit of the new
taU barber bill fostered by the
orKanlzed Kioups of Oregon bar-
hers that the state legislature will
be asked to pasa, although in gen
eral the orRanlzed barbers favor it.
The u norga n ized barbers; of the
city are unanimous In opposition.
Tho provisions and amendments
to be incorporated In the bill are
set forth by the Oregonian as fol
lows:
j "Amendments to the present
barber law of Oregon, requiring
that a clean laundered steam towel
must be uned on a man's face he
fnre Hhnving and providing for the
licensing of all barber shops by
the state with a $1 shop tax fee,
will be nsked by the two organized
barber groups in the state, accord- i
ing to Frank I. Penner, secretary
treamiier of the Oregon Slate Mas
ter Bnrber's association, who de
scribed the proposed - legislation
here yenterday.
"Both amendments, which will
be )reKented in a bill nt this ses
sion of the state legislature, were
approved by the Oregon State Mas
ter Iurber'8 association at Its an
nual convention In La Grande
Juno 2 and 3, and by the Journey
man llnrbers association at its
annual convention at Medford on
October l. The latter association
went farther in suggesting that
each barber be required to pay a
fee also.
