C. T. Sweeney, queen of Zuleiiua temple. Daughters of the Nile, will preside at the final cere monial of her regime on Thursday afternoon, February 5, at 2 o'clock in the Ashland Masonic temple. Mrs. Katherine Rintz of Chicago, supreme queen of the Daughters of the Nile, will make her official edt of the year to the local temple at this time. The hall will be decorated by the committee of which Mrs. . II. McNUir of Ashland is chairman. Officers, the temple choir and pa trol will assist Mrs. Sweeney dur ing the ceremonial and special mu sic has been arranged by Mrs. Uert llarnes of Grants Pass, director of the chorus. At the close of the ceremonial the lemptc. patrol will give an exhibition drill under the leadership of Mrs. Chas. Gilbert of Medford. At 7 o'clock a dinner will bo served to the members and their escorts in the Masonic dining room at which Mrs. Rintz and the newly initiated candidates with their es corts will be guests of honor. In stallation of the 1931 officers will be a feature of the evening pro gram at which Mrs. liintit will pre side as installing officer, Mrs. Clarence Winetrout of Grants Pass, installing marshal and Mrs. W. Dancing will follow the installation ceremonies. ft Mary Greiner Kelly Will Head Dramatic Art Dept., Academy Announcement made yesterday by the St. Mary's Academy of the addition of a dramatic art depart ment to the curriculum of the school is being enthusiastically re ceived by nil local followers of dramatic expression this week. Classes in the new department will open tomorrow. Mary Greiner Kelly of this city, who has hail much experience In writing ami acting, directing and producing plays, will head the department. L)r;tmatie instruction will bo of fered pupils of all grades, ranging from the first primary seclionH to high school sehiors. The enroll ment for the department already totals 8i!. A dramatic club is being organ ized in connection with the depart- inent and officers to head the club will be elected at a meeting tomor row1 afternoon at 3 o'clock. Students of other schools are In vited to lake the course and Mrs. Kelly will give private lessons in dramatic art to students who are unable to enroll in the regular classes. She is well ijuullticd as an instructor, having secured her degree In dramatic art, upon grad uation at the University of Wash ington and also holds a certificate entitling her to give dramatic in struction in all grades. She has acted with four profes sional companies Including Henry Duffy players, Forrest Taylor com pany, Lawrence Marsh company of San Diego mid Alfred Cross com pany of the same city. While at the University of Washington she produced numerous dramas, a in I directed several of her own pro diicllons in Seattle. Having appeared in amateur productions in Medford her work is also well known among local followers of the little theatre group.
