ii nd counsplor-at-ln iv, practiced in
Portland, but in 1002 ho decided
that ho would on joy life to a
greater extent if ho lived in the
mountains. Then it was that he
moved to .lount Shunt a City.
Mr. Haese, who had cataracts
on his eyes, had them removed,
and. was in Med ford yesterday hav
InK glasses fitted. Ho is vitally in
trtreated in the development of a
booster organization linking south
ern Oregon and northern Califor
nia. His idea, as expressed while here
yesterday, is to call a meet ins of
I'hamher of commerce officiate and
leaders of civic organizations of the
cities concerned. A "boosters'
meeting would be called in Med
to rd so that plans could he made
in attract tourists to this section
of the country.
"You can see that I am not in
terested in this because of selfish
desires, hut becnuso I think this
section has been passed by without
the people throughout the nation
knowing of the beauties here," he
added.
Mr. Haese U 72 years old, and
Is. a striking figure with his knot
ted cane, walking about the hotel.
His hair te white, and he has a
snow-white beard and mustache,
"I knew Med ford when It was a
small town," he said, "and on
reason why I nm so interested In
its development Is that San Fran
cisco grew in practically the same
manner."
He outlined a plan whereby tour
sistR would visit Red Ithitf. Jour-
n?i- in All 'I nfln thai, I n l t
Shasta and Mcl.eod. From, there J
lhy would visit Castle Crag. Mount ;
t-'hasta City and Yreka. Tourists
would then come to the Iloguo
Ttiver valley to fish, visit Crater'
lake, and rhen return south hy
