Kingsley's signed confession told
of many misfortunes during his
'life. He Is -4 years old. ami was
born hi Seattle. His father desert
ed the three children at the moth
er's death when King-ley was five
years old. at which time ho and
his younger brother were sent lit
an orphanage, and his isier was
taken care of by an aunt.
He said ho has not seen his
father since. He lived with sev
eral relatives after being taken
from the orphanage. While living
with his stMp-grauduiothei- ho
saved $123, which she induced him
to pay on a homo. Tho title was
put in her .name, and soon after
she told htm to leave.
Klngsley then Joined tho navy,
but was discharged three months
later because of physical disability.
Ho ran nwuy from an uncle with

self since that time, He saved
100 whtlo living with the uncle,
but was forced to turn the money
over to him.

Several limes ho worked in print
shops, but each .time ho was let
out because of his previous record.
When twenty years old ho was
married, and the statement says
that ho was unable to save any
money because of his wife's ex
travagance. Kingsley took a radio out on a
personal note, expecting to receive
money promised him by the boot
leggers who had wrecked tho car.
He did not receive tho money.
When trying to sell the radio, ho
left It at a homo overnight, and
upon his returning tho next day,
found tho family had moved. He
did not report the Incident as
authorities at tho reformatory held
that he had violated his parole,
and ho would bo arrested.
He cared for a friend who held
a night watchman's job nt Seattle,
and one night while working for
him, h on rd l h a t a d op u t y sheriff
was looking for him. He then
stole a model A ford, and went to
Colorado. Needing two tires for
tho car to get to work one day, he
stole them, nnd was sentenced to
the reformatory ut Ituena Vista,
Colo., for an indefinite period of
from one lo ten years.
Learned Harboring
Kingsley made his escape In 45
days. Having learned the barber s
trade white In tho reformatory in
Washington, ho secured a Job for
one day, earning 5s.7.r. He hitch
hiked to Salt Lake City, whore,
with an cx-couvlct he met, stole
the DeSoto six, and went to Seal
He. He told of holiling up several
barber shops In Seattle and Port
laud. Plans had been made to
pull off a Job In Aberdeen with
"Irish." the ex-convlct. but he
failed to show Up.
