Visions of coal mine dcvclup
nieiit in the Sams Valley section
were brought to Med ford today by
Karl Weaver, who found a promis
ing Vein of coal while diULcintf a
well on his farm a few duysaKo.
Mr. Weaver brought a sample of
the coal to the Mail Tribune office
and explained that it burns readily,
but beinK only 1 U feet from the
surface of the mound it is of n
soft, brittle texture.
The vein is eijiht incites thick
and is believed to be one of sev
eral underlying the floor of the
valley district. A thick coal ins of
i crude oil floated on the surface of
'the water that gathered in the well
and a thin vein of oil shale was
alao found. The whale Is so per-
. nb'aled with oil, .Mr. Weaver said.
i that it burns with a bright flume.
FI'E million modern mothers will
tell you that children DO cry for
Fletcher's Castoria. For mothers always
give a few drops of this pure vegetable
preparation when a child has any of
the symptoms that tell of slugpUh
bowels, colic, or other upsets. When tiny
lotiKiies are coated and breath is bad.
When a child is restless; irritable. Always
soothing and comforting to an infant
yet it is effective for children in their
teens. You never have to coax children
to take Castoria; they love its taste.
Be ready for the next case of sour
stomach, constipation, or other need for
Castoria!
When buying look for the signature
of Chas. II. Fletcher on wrapper.

COOKING CROQUETTES
AND ROASTING
COFFEE HAVE MUCH
IN COMMON
Success Depends Upon the
- Rule A Liltle at
a Time
Careful cooks do not crowd too
many croquettes into the hot fat
because they lower the tempera
ture and then absorb prease. Cook
ing a few at a time prevents this.
In roasting coffee there is simi
lar difficulty when too much is
roasted at once. It is impossible
to control the heat and often, as a
result, part of the batch is over-1
done and part underdone. This
causes variation in flavor.
Hills liros., following the rule
in tho croquette recipe, roast only
a few pounds of coffee at a timo
liw Ibnii n.'iteninil. continuous nroc-
ess Controlled Roasting. Thero
is no variation in the roast be
cause there is accurate control of
; inu neat, uiau ui vuw iv.t ... v,nv.
: throutrh the roasters. A rare, uni
form flavor is dcvciopea sucn as no
other coffee has.
Grocers everywhere sell Hills
Rros. Coffee in vacuum cans that
keep it fresh. Air, which destroys
the flavor of coffee, is removed
from the cans when they are
packed, and kept out. Ordinary
cans, even if air-tight, do not keep
coffee fresh. Ask for Hills Bros.
Coffee by name and look for the
Aral) the trade-mark on the can.
