18,000-Mile Journey.
US llOimOET, France. Jan.
(A') The. Prince o( Wales and his
brother, Prince GeorRe, landed here
tills afternoon niter a flight from
Kendon airport, England, on the
first stage or their 18,000-mile Jour
ney to South America.
LONDON, Jan. Hi. (PI The
Prince of Wales sot off to a fly
iUK start today on his tour to
South America. With his brother,
Prince George, he left Hendon nil
port In a plane bound for Pari
on the first leg of a tour which
will take them over IS. noil miles.
. Apparently Prlneo Gooi-ko de
cided at the last minute to ac
company his brother on this first
airplane journey. Shortly before
they left It had been announced
that the kind's younger son vwuld
cross the channel by steamer.
The fliKht was ninde in the
prince's own private .Moth plane.
K. I.. Fielden was the pilot. De
cision to fly to Pariw was reached
only after Ions consultations with
air ministry officials and weather
experts and after receiving wea
ther reports from France.
To lloard IJncr.
From Paris the two princes and
their entourage will proceed to
Santnnder where they will board
the liner Oropesa in which they
will cross the Atlantic.
It is in the capacity of mer
chant' princes, with British good
will their chief commodity for
sale, that the royal brothers pre
pared to set out on their trip,
which will take them away from
England for more than two months
and Involves visits to most of the
Important south American cities.
The P.ritish heir's chief task will
be the Inauguration of the Brit
ish empire trade exhibition at
Ituenos Aires March 14.
In order to equip himself for
his task of sustaining a reputation
as p.ritain's greatest traveling
salesman, the prince has spent
long hours studying Spanish.

ILL
Indeed, the Uinfi's younpest .son, I
only recently 2fc, is easily the ihest
dancer in the royal family. A year
uko or so, it was reported, he en
tered incognito in a dancing com
petition at Cannes and won it.
He frequently visits unofficially
some of London's famous dancing
clubs. !
His dancing ability may comet
from his love of music nnd rhythm.!
Wa les ca n play the u ku le le a nd 1
trap drums, but (ieorgo is a pianist i
good enough to play nt parties. !
He has his father's deep blue
eyes, looks a ood ileal younger j
than he is, and is slender. He has;
a boyish manner nnd smile, and a
pleasant voice.
Only rarely he misses a chance
to se a good musical or, dancing
show, and he also is a movie fan.
When in the navy his ship touched
on the California coast and he con
triver d to meet a number of Holly
wood's stars, including the Fair
banks. Like Wales, he sometimes ap
pears at business functions where
a member of the royal family is
needed, but not nearly am often.
There is a strong bond of friend
ship between the two brothers.
When JJuckingham Palace was
closed during the ' kind's illness,
Ge-orge moved into York House
with Wales.
Their interests , in sports are
much the same golf, especially,
although Prince George's health
has not .permitted him as robust
a participation n Wules. - -
