Albert Huffman. 16. of Central
Point, lies in the Community hos
pital in a critical condition this
afternoon with his right hand miss
ing, several vertebrae shattered,
hit intestines perforated and his
.skin discolored with powder burns
as the result of an explosion, which
occurred about 1 0 o'clock this
forenoon, when the boy was play
ing with a war relic, said to be
shrapnel.

with a friend in the basement

abdomen on the left side, perfor
ated his intestines, and continued

mailed into the surgery. Many in
ternal stitches were taken but the
metal was not removed from hit
vertebrae. Some hope for hi re
covery was reported this afternoon.
