Chapter 3
LOVE VERSUS LOYALTY
IIMMY CRANE gave a prayer of
thanks to the god of Ui under.
Aileen was terrified by storms. As

you?" Jimmy seemed unimpressed.
"I'm getting a hundred and twenty
a week," she answered practically.
"That takes care of my personal
needs and pays for this apartment"
"You mean (hat you foot all the

"Viv helps when she's making
money but her work's spasmodic.
Jim, I'm afraid it I don't stand

"I get you," he said resignedly.

door kept him from adding more.

prise as she greeted them casually.

opera?" Jimmy Inspected her qui

a movie star, and return as a kitchen
mechanic."

Oh Saturday, the 21th of this
'month, one of the most Important
Pomona meetings this county has
ever had will be held at Fugle.
Point. Intensive' plans will he
'made for the conVng ot the State
Orange convention next June,
which will be held in Medford,
and many committees will be ap
pointed to moke the many arrange
ments for that important event.
Arthur Brown, state deputy for
southern Oregon, is responsible for
the statement that this convention
will, without a doubt, be the larg
est Oregon state Grange conven
tion ever held, believing that about
3.500 Grangers will be In attend
ance. He says that Grangers all
over the state are Interested, and
more are planning to attend the
convention than ever before, they
being particularly anxious to eo
that favorable and much talked
about Feet ion of the state, Med
ford and Its surrounding territory.
Ho also stated that many will
take advantage of the convention
to visit this section with nn eye
to tocntlng in the valley, if a favor
able Impression Is had. so the vari
ous cities ami towns of the valley,
with their chambers of commerce,
can do no better than extend to
these visitors a royal welcome nnd
"how them a much of the valley
as Is possible during such a busy
tlme.

all Pomona members should at

the new officers a Grange strong
in membership, strong in finance,
strong in Grange spirit, and we ex
pect only those building stones will
be added by the new officers which
will give added strength nnd sta
bility to this Grange and to the
order.

ular initiatory ceremony.
One of the outstanding features
were the tableaux. The group of
ladles were: Mrs. Hoist, Mrs. Mc
Donough, Mrs. Prink, Miss Rich
ardson and Miss Sage.
They beautifully portrayed the
symbols of the high principles and
alma of the grange.
The work was put on In a com
mendable manner, and before clos
ing, some fancy drills 'were given
which were enjoyed by all.
A bountiful supply of cake,
sandwiches, coffee and pickle
were served. The remainder of
the evening, was spent, in playing
games and other forms of amuse-
