them.
Two very pretty pictures were

'The Christmas Tree' is n
P'.-mii written by Virginia I'orter
and If nth Fitch, recording their
experience in searching for "the
Christmas tree. The tree was
brought In by the eighth grade
and from the reports they brought
in, we judge they had a very en
joyable time. Following is the
poem.
"The Christmas Tree."
"Wo went after a Christmas tree;
Wo came hack tiio with three.
Those that went were just we four
Wo regretted later there were not
more.
We got out at half pn.t two.
Wo ran when we heard an old
cow moo.
Muddy and slippery was the trail.
AVhen we fell down we let out ft
wail!
It surely was a beautiful day,
Francis Schiller led the way.
'Till we came to a fence all went
welt.
Virginia got stuck and lcr out ,a
' yell.
It till, came up and boosted her
over;
She landed right in a bed f
clover.
Fravely we trudged the trail used
so long
Singing gaily a very sweet song.
Cross bones and skull barred our
trail!
Another shriek and another wail.
At last wo had come to a Christ
mas tree.
'Til chop it down, please let- me."
Frances I'orter took three swings
in desperal Ion.
Knch time she hit a new location.
"She chops just like a woman:
I'll show her how,"
Said Francis Schuler who had run
from the cow.
"At ast we were ready to home
ward fly,
.Hut, alas, over the hills our trail
did lie.
Francis Schuler looked like n
clown
With the Christ mils tree hanging
over his crown.
Francis looked back as he rounded
n curve.
Illght into n bush, head first he
did HWervc.
The Christmas tree right over him
did fall.
And for help Francis surely did
call!
