Tlip sending out of Christinas
presents from the Medford postof
fioo was quite brink today for tho
first time, since the sending period
started lust week, and at times
there were waiting lines in tho
lobby. Of course tho majority of
parcels sent out Saturday ami to
day were for eastern und middle
west addresses.
For those sections of the nation
Christmas parcels may be sent out
for several days yet with reason
able assurance that they will be
delivered by Christinas day.
Bo heavy had grown the Christ
mas mailing business over the
eek end that today two of tho
selected Inexperienced men who
will be put to work nt the local
postofflce during tho Christmas
rush period, were put to work to
aid the regular staff of employes.
Tho others will be added as fust as
business warrants, in way of giving
employment to needy heads or
supporters of families.
From now on the Christmas
mail sending from Medford is ex
pected to increase dully until a few
days before Christmas. The send
ing of parcels to California and
Washington and other adjoining
states is expected to begin increas
ing in volume Wednesday, nnd tho
rush of sending parcels to Oregon
points is expected to start by Fri
day or Saturday.
The public is again warned that,
to make allowanco for so much
Inexperienced help being used in
tho postofficc service thruout the
nation during this period in order
to relievo unemployment, and to
guard against storms, all senders
of parcels from Medford to points
of any distance should allow a day
or two leeway over the regular
time.
The express company also re
ports a constantly increasing busi
ness in sending Christmas parcels
out from Medford by that method
of transportation.
