Leading In interest events of the
pie-holiday season In tho wedding
of Miss Margaret Strong Ames,
daughter of Mrs. L. P. Ames, and
Mr. Wm. Henry Fluhrer, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John F. Fluhrer,
which was solemnized at 4 o'clock
Friday afternoon in tho St. Mark's
church. Episcopal, Father Wm. B,
Hamilton reading the service.
Invitations were Issued to 200
guests and the church elaborately
decorated In white chrysanthe
mums and green ivy for the oc
casion. The bride was charming, attired
in a. gown of cream colored satin
finished with a long train which
formed a graceful line beneath her
veil, 'created from an old French
shawl worn by her grandmother,
Mrs. E. A. Perry.
She carried a shower bouquet
of gardenias and lilies of tho valley-Mrs.
Bruce H. Bauer, her matron
of , honor, wore a formal after
noon gown of shell pink crepe.
Tho maid of honor, Miss Constance
Ames, was attired In a slmllur
gown of orchid crepe and the
bridesmaids, Miss Kleunor -Ames
and Miss Louise Fluhrer, wore
gowns of peach and turquoise blue
all wore silver turbans to blend
with their gowns and carried boa
quels of salmon pink rosebuds.
Mr. Herbert Strang was the
groom's attendant and Dr. Bert
Lageson and Mr. Thomas Swem,
ushers.
For half an hour preceding the
ceremony soft music was played on
the organ by Mrs. H. O. Purucker,
who continued with Mendelssohn's
wedding march for the procession
a I.- She ployed- very softly through
the ceremony Schubert's Ave Ma
ria and the grand march from
Tunnhauser for the recessional. Out
of town' guests for the wedding
were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Franz and
son Joseph, of Portland.
Following the wedding, dinner
was served at tho Ames homo for
members - of the two families.

On Tuesday evening, December
9, the second of the scries of draw
ing room recitals by the students
of Rosa Black more Willett from
tho Medford nnd Grants Pass stu
dios was given at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Leverette.
Over 60 people enjoyed tho re
cital In a reaj Christmas setting.
The rooms were gaily and artis
tically decorated with evergreens
and flowers and wonderful light
ing effects In rose and gold.
Tho Yule log burned cheerfully
and at tho other end of the music
room a Christmas tree glittered in
tho soft light.
Tho splendid work of the class
was received with much enthusi
asm by tho audience. The pupils

has been announced as date for the
annual American Legion ball, one
of the most festive events of the
Yuletide season. The dance will be
held at the Oriental Gardens.
Past Commender H. L. Bromley
will act as chairman of the affair,
which is anticipated each year by
many social groups of the valley.
Full details of the dance plans will
be announced by Mr. Bromley at
an early date.

Dr. and Mrs. Georgo Hcnny and
children, who will leave Portland
Immediately after the holidays to
make their home in Philadelphia,
stopped in this city the first of the
week to visit friends whilo en route
north from Sun Francisco. Dr.
llenny recently completed his in
terne in San Francisco and is be
ing transferred to Philadelphia.
Mrs. Henny was formerly Eliza
beth Gore and made her home in
Medford for a number of years.
