river that were unscreened and

upon the close of the irrigation
season and the advent of hinhor
water in the river, to prevent j

say, and only a few were caught.
However, a visit to the river
last Friday by Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Ovulman of Med ford re
sulted In the catch of four good
sized steel head and several cut
throat trout. Tho steelhead were
caught by tho former and the
trout by the latter. Egg bait
was uwd. Salmon. eggs .were
eatjerly nibbled by th steelhead
but when steelhead eggs were
placed in the water, the fish
refused to bite.

friends with domestic ducks. The
mallards flayed on the prcmiws
and have hatched AH duckH as

ment for the propagation of wild

day, In a non -conference game,

nevertheless, St. Mary's defeated
Oregon, 7-6. Stanford finished
third in the coast conference.
The first Intorseetional clash of
any consequence on the coast took
place Saturday at Palo Alto, whore
Stanford battered out a 14-7 win
over Dartmouth, one of the best
teams in tho east.
