Karachi dispatch to the London
Daily Herald today said 12 persons
wore killed and 150 others Injured
during an outbreak of communal
rioting at Sukkur, Northwestern In
dia. Police fired Into a crowd of fight
ing Hindus and Moslems during the
clash and it was supposed many
of the casualties were from their
bullets. Two companies of Indian
troops are en route from Yhder
nbad and the commissioner of the
Slnd -district Is on his way there.
Two hundred persons were arrested.-

Neltleton and Eleanor Harrison,
British women missionaries, if the
British consul there considered the

ed was $50,000 Chinese or about
$19,000 gold.

day, and explosions and fire which
followed Imperiled thousands and
called out all the fire apparatus
in Weehauken and Union City.
Manhole covers flew into the air
alone streets all the way to Union
Cily. Joshua Moyer, the negro,
was critically burned. No one was
struck by the iron discs.

King Street to Newtown Street, in
the City of Medford, Oregon, and
for tho afwewsment of the cost
thereof on adjacent property: pro
viding for a meeting of the Council
to consider protests against said
construction, and providing for the
serving of tho owners of. adjacent
property with notice thereof by the
lterordor.
The City of Medford doth ordain
as follows:
Kectlon l. That It is the inten
tion of tho Council to grade and
gravel West Fourteenth Street from
King Street to Newtown Street, in
the- City of Medford, Oregon, in
accordance with the plans and
specifications therefor now on file
in the office of the City Superin
tendent, at the City Hall, Medford,
Oregon, to which plans and epecl
ca lions reference is hereby made
for details anil cost thereof, and to
assess upon each lot or part there
of adjacent to nnd benefited by
such improvement, its proportion
ate share of the cost of said Im
provement. 1
Section 2. The Council will meet
in the Council Chamber at the city
Hall on the 19th day of August,
1!30. at 7:30 o'clock p. m.. at
which time and place the owners
of said adjacent property are here
by called upon to appear before
said Council and show cause, if
any, why mid grading and gravel
ling should not be constructed, and
why n id property should not be
assessed for tho construction (here
of.
Section 3. The City Recorder is
hereby directed to serve notice
hereof upon the property owners
aforesaid by publishing this Ordin
ance once in a 'daily newspaper,
printed, published and of general
circulation In said City, at least
ten ( 1 1' ) days before- the date of
said meeting, and by posting five
copies of this ordinance in five
public and conspicuous places in
wilfl City for a period of ten (10)
days prior to said meeting.
