weeks ago on a tiuuo-milc scout
ing expedition by auto, from Kan
lo.se, del Cabo, the lowest point in
Culifornin, to the farthest point
north he could reach by auto, was
in Medford Monday for a few
hours, en route home.
Outdoor Franklin Is the road
scout for the ltichfield Oil Co. and
while here visited Hearts Spencer,
manager of the local branch. He
also visited Crater and Diamond
hikes Sunday and tbe air circus
dedicating Medt'ont's air port Mon
day and extended greetings over
the radio at the port.
Franklin has been scouting for
!M years, and has covered over a
million and a quarter Vniles. visit
ing the places of interest to sports
men and touriKM, taking pictures
und writing stories of his trips.
His car is equipped with every
thing, including radio, refrigerator
und complete camp outfit, to
make tho trip a pleasant one. It
,s said his equipment cost more
than' the iiuick ear he was driv
ing. The power for his raiilo is
generated from the engine of his
car.
On the trip north Franklin went
up the Roosevelt highway to Van
couver, It. C, nnd 802 mi lew north
o:' Vancouver to Ila'elton. Ji. C,
the latter part of tho .trip being
over the Caribou trail. He went
as far as a car can be forced to
go. This trail, when completed in
two. years -will connect with the
Alaskan railroad.
He is .returning. over the Pacific
highway, visiting nil the points

away at the Sacred Heart hospital,

illness of three weeks. Air. Long
