will be the greatest air show ever
put on In this section of the coast, j
Fifty planey manned by famous
VHots are expected to arrive here
at 3 p.m., August 4, and two big
programs will be starred during
the afternoon and evening.. j
To defray the expenses of this ;
elaborate air show a small ad-1
mission charge will be made. The i
one admission ..will cover both the!
afternoon and night programs.
Crowning event of the evening;
will be a big aviation buH In the
new hangar, which hws been at
tractively decorated for the oc
casion. The vieillng pilots and
officials of the1. northwest air tout
will be. guests of honor nnd wilt
be Introduced to the crowds. Lo
cal Legionnaires are working hard
to perfect final nrrangements for
this big dedication celebration,
which will draw many from vari
ous parts of the state. . ,
A report of the airport dance
given by the Legion last Friday
was made by Chairman Hall, who
stated that a nice profit was real
ized for the drum corps conven
tion trip in August. Pert .Apple
gate was Introduced as a new
member of Medford post. .
Past Commander Elmer WHson
paid a splendid tribute to William
Lyman, well known v e t era n of
the G. A. II.. whoso funeral was
held yesterday, and resolutions of
sympathy were extended to the
family of this departed comrade.
A plan to raise funds for .the
convention trip to linker, August
14 was outlined by Lee Garlock,
chairman of the special campaign
and th.e project will be put into
effect at once. Medford post drum
corps has the greatest distance to
travel of any corps in the state
and a large sum of money is
needed to defray expenses. Fif
tern more members . are needed
to put the post over their quota ,
before the convention nnd every
local Legionnaire it urged to pay
his dues nt once. Vice-rom-mnnder
John Holmer presided at
last night's meeting with Henry
Fluhrer acting as adjutant.
Obituary
CAM 11-1 ELL Margaret Jane,
daughter of Mr. and M rs. J. L.
Campbell of ' 100 South- Grape
street, passed away at a local hos
pital at 4:00 a. 111. today at the
age of eight years, eight months,
17 days. She was born at Estancin
New Mexico In lNitl. The family
came tf southern Oregon from
Seattle In 10:MI and are well known
in Met! ford, where Mr. Campbell
Is engaged in the sheet metal busi
ness. Besides the parents, ..there
are left, four brothers una two
sisters. Turner Derwood. Maurice
Sol by,- Catherine and J. L., Jr., all
of Medford and Mrs. T. It. Bryant
of Oridley, Calif.
Funeral services will bo con
ducted at the Conger chape at
:3f Thursday. Interment will be
in Medford cemetery.
