from PorlJtind, Ore., to New York,
crashed last night in the mountain
country 33 miles southeast of here.
Major lOckorson was not seri
ously hurt, so far us could be
learned by telephone communica
tion with u nearby ranch. Ho is
being brought to a hospital here
ufter emergency treatment.
The plane was demolished. The
engine was found 6u feet from the
fuselage. '
The accident occurred some time
during the night while Kckerson
was headed toward Minneapolis,
where he expected to make Ills
first stop.
The wrecked plane nnd injured
aviator were found by Klsle Pogu
son, 1 3 year old ranch girl, who
was out riding this morning. She
summoned aid.
Major Kckerson spent three
months in Medford the first of the
year operating a flying school at
the city airport, and Is well known
here. He is an army flier of long
experience and had held a flying
record, un marred until the mishap
yesterday.
