the gladioli show to be opened to
morrow and continuing for three
flays at the Mori ford chamber of
commerce. Tho flowers are being
furnished by valley growers and
will include over J50 varieties, In
cluding some never on exhibition
here before.
Three principal growers, A. L.
Smith, D. 8. Prultt and R. P.
Rnlmey, will have flowers on dis
play. These men are extensively
interested in tho business and do
considerable shipping business of
flowers and bulbs. They are rep
resented in Medford by Mrs. Irene
Do Losh of Bouth Holly street, who
has been taking orders for bulbs
and flowers for some time and will
continue to do so.
A gladiolus will be presented to

Mrs. R. H. Coffin of Ashland,
motlier of D. A. Coffin of this city,
leaves this evening by train lor
New York City, from wTiere she
will sail for France aboard the
steamhip Washington with other
Gold Star mothers on July 23.
While In France she will visit
the grave of her son, Allen R. Cof
fin, who was a sergeant in Battery
E, 148th field artillery. Sergeant
Coffin also served with the branch
of the army that was stationed on
the border during the Mexican
trouble In 1916 and 1917.
Sergeant Coffin went to France
in January, 1918, and was killed
June 18 of the same year. Previous
to entering the war, he made his
home in Carbon county, Montana.
- Mrs. Coffin will remain in France
for two weeks, and return to her
home in Ashland about August 19.
