The Crater Ljtke season. for 1930
opened today, although tourists
and other visitors have been going
up to the national park for weeks
past by the hundreds, making the
round trip In one day, and since
the opening of the lodge lust, Fri
day for longer stays.
The opening - today lacks the
usual Importance-of that occasion
for 3'ea rs pa st , the fine wea t h e r
and snow disappearance from the
roads and elsewhere stimulated the
early pre-season travel, and caused
the cafeteria to be opened over a
week ugo, and the lodge last Fri
day.
'ifhe features of today's opening
were that the stages began operat
ing between the lodge and Med
ford, Klamath Falls and Chlloquin,
and the boating and other park
concessions were in operation fur
the first time this season.
Crater Iake national park will
enjoy an unusually large atten
dance over the Fourth of July, and ir
already the big lodge is beginning
to fill up, and as usual will do a
capacity business over the Fourth,
The mall service between Med-
ford und the lodge also began
today.
The two stages operating be
tween Med ford and Crater Lake
lodge started on their season's
schedule this morning. The stages
leave here for the lake following
the arrival of the 10:40 and 11:40
a. m. trains, and return to Medford
