What the Girl
Scouts AreDoing
Jiy Mi-s. I). J. WMlsou
Here is a Girl Keout camp al
most ready to open ! Wo have
been talking and planning for It
during tho whole past year. Ev
erything points to a bigger and
better camp than ever before and
judging from the enthusiasm of
the girls It certainly will be!
Mrs. H. E. Cully of Portland, Js
coming down to be camp direct
or for the three weeks. We ex
pect Mrs. Cully sometime during
the week, possibly about Wednes
day. Iler camp name by the way,
is Sirius. Mrs. Cully is not how
ever, as "serious" as her name
would imply!
Miss Marjorie Goff will have
charge of tho "swimming, and wo
hope that every girl will know
something about swimming when
she leaves camp. There will be
instruction every morning and af
ternoon, with the girls divided in
to classes, depending on their pro
firiency in thu water. Wouldn't
Neplune be a fine name for Miss
Goff?
Miss Marjorie Kelly will have
charge of archery nnd basketball
and several of the handicrafts.
One of these hand f craft 8 will be
soap sculpture, something we have
wtinted to lenrn all year. There
will also be nature, craft, and for
all these things you will need
your knife. A good paring knife
will do, but If you buy scout
knives do not get them In a large
awkward size.
Here nre some extra items for
your camp equipment list. Ibing
some sort of a small size rug.
piece of carpet or canvas to put
beside your cot. There are no
floors In the tents so you will
certainly welcome this suggested
substitute. For the soap culture
you need the standard size Ivory
Mnp. Bring two or three bars of
Ivory Tor your soap supply and If
the sculpturing doesn't please you.
you can simply use It to wash
yobr face ami cars!
Camp registrations are coming
in rapidly. There will be a largo
group from Foots Creek and
Bogne Ulver. and pos.-ibiy Grants
I'nss.
