Season your Vegetables
while Cooking
with a dash of
ugar
The combination of sugar and
salt improves the llvor of fresh
or canned vegetables in a most
surprising .way. It emphasizes
the mild taste of spinach ; mel
lows the tartness of tpuiutncji ;
blends dcliciously with the
flavor of peas, carrots, string
bonus, corn, onions, cabbage
and other, vegetables.
.Vegetables, however, are not
the only class of essential foods
which can be improved by this
seasoning. Many cooks keep a
mixture of sugar and salt within
reach for use in meat stewa,
pot-roasts and salad dressings.
Some prefer .1 mixture that con
tains equal parts of sugar and
salt, but suit your taste.
Doctors and dietitians recom
mend the use of sugar in flavor
ing and seasoning, because it
encourages the consumption of
foods rich in vitamins, minerals
and roughage. Good food pro
motes good health. Sugar
