Summer oil emulsion will give
excellent control if applied thor
oughly to the under side of the
leaves. The recommended dilu
tions rantte from one. to one and'a
half gallons of emulsion to the
hundred callous of water or spray
solution If mixed with arsenate of
lead! Medium to heavy emulsions
can be used with safety on pears
and results are satisfactory at the
lower dilutions.
Light emulsions should bo used
at a greater strength than 'the
medium or heavy emulsions if suc
cessful control is desired. In case
of mixing oil emulsions with arsen
ate of lead, It Is always advisable
to use a cascnulo spreuder in the
combination.
In applying, spray upward and
drench the under side of the
leaves. Jlites untouched with spray
material will continue to propagate
ami control has not been success
ful. Urass ami. weeds around the
trunk of the tree should be tboroly
dienchcd, thus killing many niltes
before they migrate.
