land working . on an Initiative
measure to close the Roguo river
to commercial fishing and make it
a sporting stream. Reports from
eastern Oregon state that the pe
tition hns been well algned In that
region, which is about aH far from

son and Josephine counties the pe

to this measure, as it will abolish

petitions to Insure placement at
the Hague Klver fishing amendment
on the ballot in (he November elec
tion has apparently been obtained,
it was announced this morning at
the office ot the Rogue River com
mittee. Petitions are being check
ed In clerkB' offices of all countieB
of the state to sec. that they are
signed by registered voters.
Advance information is that
enough persons have already sign
ed to get the amendment on the
ballot, although all tho petitions
have not been returned to Medford.
P. C. Bigham left today to galher
up petitions in Klamath county.
The committee anticipated that
the required number of names
would be secured by June 15. Re
quests have been Becured from all
parts of the state asking tor an
other week in which to circulate
additional petitions. The commit
tee believes that there will be sev
eral thousand more than the re
quired number of nams dllvered
to tho secretary of state with re
quest lor placing the amendment
on the ballot.
