OF HER TUBES
To many persons the Inner tube)
of h tire Is Just something which,!
must be Inflated. Few motorists jj
appreciate the Important work?
done by the inner tube, according
to engineers of the Flsk Tiro Com
pany, Inc., who explain the func
tion of this most necessary part of
the pneumatic. tire.
"The inner tube Is an nlr con
tainer." the Fisk engineers point
out. "The work done in propelling
the automobile is transmitted from
t)ie engine, to the tire, to the roal.
The work done by the Inner tube
la the adjustment of itself as the
rotation of the wheel forces move
ment of the air, and that amount
jif work done aa the medium when
blow against the tire is counter
balanced by the cushion of air. Tho
inner tube, the enclosed air and
the tire act In unison. The tire
does not undergo a single" distor
tion or vibration. Is not subjected
to a single blow which is not re
flected against the air cushion
through the medium - of the Inner
tube.
"In the new Air-Flight Principle
Tires of Flsk, the inner tube is
subjected to less strain by the use
of the larger air chamber and cer
tain other factors subject the tub
to less heat action, all of which
make the Inner tube last longer
and perform more satisfactorily."

Just as performance In a motor
Uur Implies not simply a prepond
erance of a single element sucn
as power or speed or pickup, but
a perfect blending of all of the.e
and still other elements. Just so
must the fuel which gives most
satisfactory performance be de
signed to deliver all of the desir
able elements In perfect balance.
It was with this fundamental
premise In mind that the Assoclar-
ed Oil company developed the new
cqui-fractlonated gasoline, accord
ing to B. I. Grave3, general sales
manager of the organization.
"For many .years, various gaso
lines have been advertised for their
quick starting, greater mileage per
gallon, additional power or othor
outstanding features." Graves de
clared. "That was sufficient before
the present era. In which perform
ance has become paramount.
"Now Associated is first to meet
the demand for all-around per
formance with equi-fractionated
gafollno, which combines the five
essential qualities In a single, per
fectly balanced product. These
(lualitiqs -are, quick, starting,. -pickup,
power, speed and mileage, and
Associated has them all.
"In the production of equl-frac-tlonated
Associated gasoline, light
or fractions the gasolene In vapor
ized form that comes from the
crude at relatively low tempera
lures Is used to provide- quick
stalling and pick-up. Because of
their volatility, the lighter frac
tions Ignlto at once, even in a cold
motor.
"But,, equally Important, heavier
fractions those that distill from
the crude at higher boiling points
.are the ones thai assure powov,
pecd and long mileage. They bur.i
completely away In the motor, but
they burn more slowly.
"Thus, the term equl-fractionated
means that In Associated gasoline
are combined all of these vlfil
properties, assembled In exacllv
the correct proportion to provide
all that a gasoline motor requires
for finest performance."
