University Cruise
to Hawaii June 25
UNIVERSITY" OF OREGON,
Eugene. June 14 (Special) In a
few days from now Winifred An
drews. Myrtle G. To bey and Anita
Mohr will be basking in the warm,
mild sunshine on the beach ot
Waikikl, in famed Hawaii, acquir
ing a healthy coat of tan and en
Joying themselves to the utmost in
the warm surf. Evenings they will
join others on .tho University of
Oregon school cruise at parties nt
the itoyol Hawaiian hotel, one of
the most beautiful places in th
world, while mornings and other
odd hours will be taken up with
their .studies on the campus of the
University of Hawaii.
Thev will leave with approxi
mately 100 other Oregon summer-
school students and a faculty of 10
on the S. S. Niagara from Van
couver June 25. The students will
arrive in Honolulu a week later
and will remain there for 38 days.
Not only will the visitors lead
an enjoyable life, but they will
have the opportunity to see at first
hand one of the most unique ex
periments In sociology in the world.
Here in Hawaii the Occident truly
meets the orient, and Caucasians,
Japanese, Chinese, Filipinos, Kor
eans, the native Hawaiians and a
number of other races live and
work and play In harmony and in
equality. A real lesson in racial tol
erance can be learned by a visit
there.
Volcanic action is entirely prob
able, since the crater Kilnuea Is
about to erupt again, and this wi'l
fie'n long remembered sight. Even
should the volcano he Inactive, the
region there is of great interest.
Students from all over the United
States have registered for' the
cruise and the opportunity to meet
