The Saturday half holiday for
the carriers of tho Medford post
office went into elToct for the first
time toduy, when the carriers, ex
cept one who nutst romaln in the
office ' all afternoon lor window
delivery work, went off duty at 1
p. m. Carrier .1. A. Neff wob the
unfortunate carrier to remain on
duty all day todny. The carriers
take turns in doing this Saturday
afternoon service. Hence as there
are eight carriers, one of them
must work one Saturday afternoon
in every eight Saturdays.
The Saturday afternoon half-holiday
includes the nine clerks and
was inaugurated by them several
weeks ago. Only part of the clerks
are let oft each Saturday after
noon as the others must remain on
duty in order to have a sufficient
number on hand tn carry on the
office business. They, too, will
take turns on Saturday half holi
day duty.

P William Marvin, -15, of Bo
nanza was dead today, the victim
of n horse. The horse he was
tiding became frightened at a pass
ing truck and threw Marvin to the
ground.
The horse then stepped on Mar
vin and fractured his skull.
