FIRE CHIEF ASKS" 1
WEEDS BE CUT TO
Tl
The spring rains, along with
the cool damp weather alternating
with warm days-at times has pro-i
duced n luxurious growth of grass
and weeds In the vacant lots, on j
their parkings and In the alleys
of the city, which will make a big
fire menace besides being uiiHlght
ly when the warm weather sets
In. unless they are removed before
that time.
Therefore Fire Chief Uoy Klllott
requests all citizens to get busy
at oneo nnd cut down grass and
weeds while the cutting Is good,
and before the growth of the
vegetation becames still taller and
thicker, and too brittle to out.
This. Im all the more necessary,
as the city council this year, like
last year, made no provision In
the city budget for burning grass
and weeds, hence it Is up to the
property owner himself, or his
tenant, to get rid of the summer
fire menace.
Later on when the hot weather
comes a permit will be needed
from the fire .chief to burn grass
or weeds, which hi always a dang
crous procecdnre.
