This was due to the fact that last Saturday night was pay day . for the circus, which played Klam ath Falls that day. and Montague, Oil., Sunday, and consequently the employes whu were flush with money had no place to spend it until Medford was reached. As soon as they could get off duty, especially the performers, they flooded the stores on shop ping expeditions making purchases of various kinds, and many of them sent money to their homes In various parts of the United States and even foreign countries, visiting the postofflco and pur chasing money orders for this pur pose. Some very large sums were sent out from tho oily in tills way.
