Having recently completed an
inspection trip through northern
California Prof. Halperin said he
found in that locality some very

here is now almost ready for har
vesting, since it completes its
growth during the fall, winter and
early spring months.
C. C. Hoover of the Hnnloy and
Hoover ranch returned a few days
ago . from San Francisco, where
he met Mayor Rolph, who placed
an order for a trial planting of
the newly discovered winter grass.
Mayor Rolph, now a candidate
for governor, of California,, is not
only a brilliant nnd successful pub
lic executive, .but a practical and
enthusiastic farmer as well, keenly
interested In the development of
all agricultural products. This new
forage crop will be planted on his
4000-acre ranch near San Fran
cisco, which according to Mr.
Hoover, is an Ideal location for
