FLYING TOE HOLD
FOR INDIAN'S FOE
Yaqui Joe's flying toe hold
promises to be a revelation for
Medford wrestling fans when he
usee it next Monday evening in a
finish match against Gob Wat
kins at the armory. The hold has
never been demonstrated in Med-
JlVrd and if- once applied, the In
dian always wins tho fall. The
Indian is coming from Toxas di
rectly to Medford and if he winR
over Watkins, ho will probably be
seen in a. match here against
Wildcat Pete of Eugene.
Joe's pet hold is obtained in the
manner of a ball player making
what is known as the fade-away
slide. The Indian, standing- erect,
quickly throws hfs body to one
side as the opponent rushes in.
With the same movement, ho
throws his legs to one side, trip
ping his onrushing foe who falls
on his stomach and is caught with
a perfect toe hold from which
none have been known to escape.
The Indian does' not use his hands
after getting the hold, obtaining
the necessary leverage with his
legs, described as being similar
to iron in their strength. .
HORiNSBnHEEL

CHICAGO, May 8. (VP) Rogers
Hornsby was back on the bench
with his sore heel today while
the Cub management and his phy
sician pondered over his condition.
Ever since the spur-like growth
wus cut away from his right heel
last winter, the Rajah's ankle has
been sore. At first, it was de
cided he only needed a Bhort rest.
When the pain did not cease, it
was decided to try work as a cure.
That has failed, too, and his phy
sician is perplexed.
Hornsby had two teeth extract
ed several days ago and may he
forced to part with his tonsils,
too.
"I don't feel good nt nil," he
said, 'but I think some hot wea
