Second Onslaught in Four

Mrs. C. T. Hush. 03. and a 16-year-old
neuru boy named Edwards
were killed In lilaine county, Okla
homa, near Oreenfield.
Approximately 311 persons were
known to have been injured, few
dangerously.
Damage was believed to total
thousands of dollars, although coin
plete reports were not available be
cause of crippled transportation
and communication.
At Walters, Okla., where threo
cotton (fins and a dozen homes
were razed, loss was estimated at
$1. 10,0110. Central Kansas losses,
near Landon. Chutfe, Kltinwood
and Lorraine, were estimated un
officially at approximately $200,
000. Four Farms Swept.
At least four farm homes were
swept away between Grand Island
and Hastings. Neb. Xo one was re
ported hurt, families taking refupe
in storm cellars.
Northeast Kansas, northwest
Missouri and parts of Mebraska
were visited by another series of
storm winds last Thursday nigh.
Work of rehabilitation there is sti'U
in progress. Two deaths were at
tributed to the Thursday torna
does at Kickapoo, Kans. Six per
sons were killed in and near Nor
borne, Mo.
An unidentified motorist was re
ported injured when his automo
bile wart blown from the highway
near Lorraine.
Four men were battered by the
wind at Walters, .lack Hurley, a
laborer, was perhaps critically hurt.
Heavy crop damage occurred,
both from tornado winds and from
hail and heavy rains which fell
in the ravaged districts and other
sections.
At Ellin wood, Kans.. 40 empty
railway freight cars were strewn
over the countryside, some of them
a quarter of a mile from the right-of-way.
'Santa Ke trains were halt
ed at Klllnwond as the tracks

of this famous circus for two ex
hibitions on Monday, May li, at
North Central avenue grounds.
: Two score of advance billing
agents have visited this city within
the past ff'w days and the hercu
lean task hg) been well accom
plished. In town the choice avail
able locations have been posted or
lithographed and In the surround
ing countryside advantageous spots
mark the visit of these advance
representatives.
Great interest attaches to the
coming of the Al. G. Harm's circus
because. It is the world's largest
trained wild animal. show and has
a world wide reputation for excel
lence. Moreover the circus conies
with new eqqulpment, wlgieh cost
Into the thousands of dollars.
Some of it was built In foreign
workshops by the best artists,
sivilptors and spectacle originators
of the old world. Every Inch of
the ten acres of canvas, every cos
tume, every one of the elaborate
vehicles in fact every piece of
property Is entirely new.
This Is tho first time In the his
tory of the Al. G. Barnes circus
that It lias come forth from winter
quarters new from start to finish.
It has not retained even so much
as a quarter pole of the old outfit.
The menagerie Is stocked with
Jungle-bred animals, with the aim
in view of keeping on exhibition
onrly those rare creatures which In
the past have been considered too
expensive for circus purposes ami
with just enough of the common
zoological exiilbits on display to
make the menagerlo a complete
exposition of natural history.
It will be the first big circus of
the year and brings hundreds of
costly features.
