now' section. In the group of racing cars is an Oakland
(third from left) that was built in 1909 and one year later
made racing history in the Northwest. The other photo shows
an Oakland All-American Six, built in 1929. It is standing on
the now decaying Speedway between Tacoma and Fort Lewis
that once attracted some of the most famous race drivers of
the West. Note the weeds and trees on the banked turns.
