Monday, rather than take a chunce
on flyinf? to Grants Pass.
The pilot was bound from
Marysville to Uranis Push when
his oil line bet;an to ffive trouble.
He landed'- the machine on the
farm of A. B. Birdseye. with the
terrain of which he was familiar,
mudo some temporary repairs and
flew hack to Marysvllle, without
completing his journey to Grants
Pass.
Some Grants Pass citizens hap
pened to, be talking1 to the owner
of the farm when the plane land
ed, and in conversation with the
pilot, he-gave them his reasons
for hot continuing on to this city.
"I could have gone on as easily I
as not," said the pilots "hut l
didn't know in what shape the
Grants Pass, .field was, and was
afra'd ia rixk it. I heard the coun
ty commissioners up there had
turned down a proposal to fix up
the field. Next tjme I'll know
enough to fly and land up there,"
he is reported to have said.
