president. Installed hy Mrs. Walter
Cook, president of the OreKon
Mothers, assisted hy Mrs. J. F.
Hill, president of the Portland
chapter and MJhh Marion Phy,
executive secretary of tho organi
zation and private secretary to

' The object of the organization is
to make the mothers of students
attending the university Intimately
acquainted with the purpose and
alms of the school nd to provide
them with information for either
group or Individual study if so de
sired. Mothers of students, pros
pective students, or anyone inter
ested In the university are eligible
to membership.
The success of the meeting was
largely dyo to Mrs. Robert Ham
mond, general chairman and Mrs.
A, V, Reynolds who served on the
reception committee and also gave
the Hotel Holland parlors as a
meeting place.

Quiet dignity and charming sim
plicity marked the wedding cere
mony of Miss Josephine Wuldron,
daughter of tho lalo Mrs. Clara
Waldron, and Willis W. Williams,
when on Hunday, October 27, they
were married at tho home of the
bride's sister, Mrs. Jf. L. HaniHon,
in Ashland. Rev. Eallls of the
Methodist church officiated at the
ceremony.
Tho bride, who was gjven in mar
riage by her brother, A. E. Wal
dron, was dressed in a frock of
robin's egg blue goorgette. She
carried a shower bouquet. Miss
Janet Clement was hrldesmald and
Douglas Wood acted as best man.
Only members of the Immediate
fnmllles attended tho wedding and
directly after the ceremony dinner
was sorved. Covers were placed
for 16.
The bride attended Medford hlvh
school and has lived In this city
until the past few months she has
made her home with her sister in
Ashland. The groom Is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. W. It. Williams
of Itayette, Ida.

thusiastically received. She ro

"Barcarolle, by Offenbach. The
"Prayer," by Hasselmans wuh
beautifully executed. The harp Js
seldom heard In Grants Pass and
Miss Bettys sweet playing was
much enjoyed.
Itev. Carman E. Mel), shared the
honors of the evening, singing his
songs with fine effect. Mr. Mell
possesses an excellent baritone
voice under splendid control, and
capable of every emotion. Espec
ially well received were his "In
vlctus," Huhn; "Chanson d'une i
Voyogense," by Branscombe; "His 1
Lullaby," Bond: and "Nentune." I
by Bingham. Mr. Mell was ably I
supported at the piano by Gene-
vlevo wortman WcCorkle.

In honor of .Mrs. M. A. Parks
of Sams Valley and locul and vis
iting descendants hy blood and
marriage, Mrs. Leo. B. Williams
was hostess at a dinner party
Wednesday evening nt her home
on Tieddy avenue. An excellent
dinner was served, graced by Mm.
Parks. Seated on each side of
her were six of her surviving
children, A. B. Williams. C. R.
Williams, J. H. Williams, Mrs. R.
H. Heegmiller, Mrs. H. A. Barwlck
and Mrs. R. A. Boyles. It was
the first reunion In many years
when . the guest of honor was
surrounded by so many of her
children, and the occasion was
more than of passing moment to
Mrs. Parks, In the company four
generations wero represented by
the families of two grundchildren.
After dinner bridge and pinochle
were the diversions of the eve
ning. The event was most happily
enjoyed by all present.
Mrs. Parks will leave In a few
few days to spend tho winter with
jp, daughtor near Los Angeles, her
advanced age, 79 yours, making
it advisuble to seek a more sa
lubrious winter clime. She ex
pects to return to this valley next
spring.

The banquet hall was' most
beautifully decorated with autumn
leaves and berries, while In- the
lodge room the Hallowe'en decora
tions were used. Both were very
effective and beautiful. . - ,J'
At G o'clock about one hundred
members marched to the banquet
hall, led by Grand Representative
Elva Biden, and District Flag
Bearer, Ella Cummlngs, followed
hy the officers of Euwanu and
Chrysanthemum circles, then the
members.
Two members were Initiated into
the mysteries of woodcraft.
Chrysanthemum circle had the
pleasure tills evening, of having
seated within the wood, four char
ter members vof different circles;
they were Cora A. Sanderson of
Euwuna circle No. 047, Klumath
Fulls; Ulibie Lytle Blue k man of
Plutt Valley Circle, Brighton,
Colorado, 1902, Maude Ward Mont-
Montgomery of Httlsey, Oregon,
and Loretta Rlnabnrger of Wray,
Colorado. The last two are new
members of Chrysanthemum eircl'j.
Following circle a short prog
ram was given.
The first was a Hallowe'en toe
dance by Zoe Dell La nils, pupil
of Ruth Marie Luy , followed by
two vocal solos by Miss Mildred
Gregory, pupil of Margaret Hun

Girls' League Party !
At the Hallowe'en party, given
at the high school Friday evening
by-the Girls" league, the freshmen :
and-Tnembers ot the .faculty who
are teaching hero for tho llrst
time , were Initiated. 'A formal
inltiution was conducted by the
officers of: the league, - each .one--telling
some of the ideals and pur
poses of ths organization.' The
freshmen were given copies of the
Girls' league creed. A short infor
mal initiation was also conducted.
A very enjoyable program was
given, which Included a short Bkit
by each of the classes. The fresh
men were awarded the prize.
Their act had us Its eettlng a
cabaret, known as Coffee Anne's
Tavern, where they were celebiat
ing the 39th anniversary. La
Vonne Anderson gave a Jazz dance,
Margaret Warner played a saxo
phone solo, the four "gobs" sang
the "Dance of the Paper Dolls,"
and seven chorus girls who were
dressed in green and white gave a
dance. The patrons and patron
esses were dressed in evening at
tire, and Anna Mae Fuson, mas
ter of ceremonies wus dressed tn a
black and white suit.
For the sophomore number, an
old-fashioned country school con
ducted by Mary Edmlston, and a
number of boisterous sophomores
made up the class.
The Juniors conducted a coun
try store, with Helen Wilson us
storekeeper. . The usual number
of gossips were continually inter
fering with the love affairs of a
young couple.
"Shot at Sunrise" was tho title
of the act put on by the seniors.
A number of crippled soldiers who
had been wounded in the war were
lounging around,- a number of
whom were in a serious condition.
When It was announced that the
Armistice had been signed, . the
entire group got up and danced
around.
Miss Ruth Luy's dancing class
sang and danced the Break-away,
which was greatly enjoyed. Miss
Roberta Stearns was chairman of
the program committee.
Following the program, the re
mainder of theevening was spent
dancing, and refreshments .of cider
and doughnuts were served. Music
was furnished by the Girls;. League
orchestra.

A party was given at the home
of Mrs. Geo. Jackson of Phoenix
on Friday evening, Nov.) 1, in

visiting. Refreshments of jello
salad, sandwiches and coffee were
served.
All present expressed the opin
ion that they had spent a very
enjoyable evening.
Word has been received here of
the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs.
C. Harold Cochran of Seattle. Mr.
Cochran is the son of J. H. Coch
ran of Medford and un alumnus of
tho Medford high school.

Mrs. Mary L. Mnthews, Mrs. Grace
E. 'Andrews.' Mr. nnd Mrs. Leonard

Grace E. Andrews entertained for
Mrs. Mathews at a dinner with im
mediate relatives as guests, both
Andrews families .being present.
Mrs. Mathews has visited many
times in Ashland, nnd has made
many friends in that city.

Roosevelt School Has -
Hallowe'en Frolic
The annual Hallowe'en frolic of
the Roosevelt school was attended
by a large number of parents and
friends. Booths of various kinds
decorated In keeping with Hallo
we'en afforded tho children a great
deal of fun. Over one hundred
and thirty-five dollars were mnde
which will be added to the school
fund.
