LION CLUB TALK
The unscrupulous business man
who considers the tourist legiti
mate prey and overcharges him
for services, does more to retard
the growth of the city and to dis
courage new settlers than any
other single factor In the commu
nity, Kmerson Merrick, auto camp
proprietor told the Lions club this
noon, In an interesting talk on
"Tourist Traffic in Medford."
Mr, Merrick gave specific ex
amples of prospective new. resi
dents In the city who after becom
ing the near victims of high pow
ered salesmanship left the city
without giving it a fait chance to
prove itself.
Tho auto camp proprietor must
be a veritable information bureau,
according to Mr. Merrick. He must
be able to respond to questions
about the conditions of business,
the climate, the amount of rain
fail per year, tho number and loca
tion of schools, churches and all
other points of interest thruout
the county.
