Alexander Pantngea' case was com
plete at noon today, the lant of
three closing arguments In his be
half having been delivered to the
jury in his trial on a statutory
charge.
Only the final summation for the
state and the court's instructions
to the seven men and five women
jurors, remained to be delivered
before the case is given to the jury,
for a verdict. District Attorney
Huron Fitts, who has led the pros
ecution of the state's charge that

miles of airways in tho-i United
States, and 10,183 miles of these
airways are lighted for night fly
ing, uccording to a recent state
ment of Col. Harry H. Blee, chief
of the airport division, United
StateR department of commerce.
The lighting provided Includes
, 2,000,000, candle-power searchlight
. beacons, with flashing course light
projectors for indicating the dir
ection of the airway, installed at
1 ten mile Intervals. At some places,
'. where conditions of the terrain
makes it advisable, the beacons are
closer together. The purpose is to
permit the airplane pilot to be
able to sight a beacon at all times.
At. an average of thirty-mile In
tervals, Intermediate landing fields
with , boundary lights and a care
taker always on duty, are estab
lished for the further assistance
of airplane operators. - With these
fields, and those being established
by municipalities and private own
ers, the ."time is not 'far distant,
. It Is stated, when there will be a
4 landing field at approximately ev
ery ten miles along the main air
ways of the nation.
At a meeting this afternoon of
the tounty court, roads' and high
way committee of the Meillord
chamber of commerce with the
Ashland chamber of commerce at
Ashland, an agreement was reach
ed for a, comprehensive road pro
gram for the development of the
trade territory surrounding Ash
land. The expenditure of road
fundi for construction and Improve
ment work for the section around
Ashland was given careful discus
sion., The meeting ended late this
afternoon. The William Creek pro
ject was not discussed.

This talkie, "I'lmntom." by the
way. should be interesting to ob
serve, inasmuch as Chancy, yet un
reconciled to talkies, refused to
"dialog" his old part for any re
muneration , whatever, and the
phantom speaks little, if r.t all.
But now Mary is out of her "se
clusion," with a leading role with
the James Gleasona in "Shannons
of Broadway." And there's the
answer to the old .serial's question,
"Whr.t Happened to Mary?" The
