The proclamation Is as follows:
Fifty years ago on October
21st, when light first burst
forth from Thomas A. Edi
son Incandescent lamp, tho
. world did not realize that
there was then given to the
human race one of the great
est benefactions of all time.
From the invention of this
tiny illuminating spark hu
manity has emerged into a
new world. Great hydro
electric plants have sprung .
into being, which have multi
plied and given a new impetus
to the wheels of industry
thruout the civilized would.
Through this medium more
convenient, more comfortable
and more rapid transportation
has resulted and satisfied
mau'sdeslre. American homes
are warmed and transformed
into palaces of comfort and ,
convenience.
. Thus it is befitting that all
our people do honor to this
great man, yet living, upon
this the fiftieth anniversary of
the invention which has
touched and brightened every
life of the present civiliza
tion. In conformity with this
purpose. October 2 1 at has
been designated as "Light's
Golden Jubilee" and business
